Chair lift cost on two published US price lists, straight rail or curved

A straight-rail stair lift is published between $3,200 and $7,500 installed on the two price lists read for this page, and a curved one between $9,000 and $20,000. The gap is not a discount. A straight rail is a stock part cut to length; a curved rail is fabricated for one staircase and cannot be reused.

What the two lists publish for new stairlifts, installed

All American Stairlifts publishes a new straight-rail lift at $3,200 to $5,500 installed, a curved rail at $9,000 to $15,000, an outdoor lift at $3,500 to $7,500, and a heavy-duty model from $5,050. Arrow Lift publishes a wider straight band, $3,500 to $7,500, with its popular models at $4,500 to $6,500, and a curved lift with a single bend or turn at $12,000 to $20,000. Both figures are stated as installed prices rather than as the price of the equipment alone.

One list breaks the straight-rail price into its parts

All American Stairlifts publishes the component breakdown behind its straight-rail figure: the rail at $650 to $900, the motor and drivetrain at $780 to $1,100, the seat assembly at $420 to $650, the controls and electronics at $300 to $450, the batteries at $60 to $120, installation labor at $600 to $1,000, and dealer margin at $400 to $700. That is the only place in this record where a buyer can see how much of a quote is the hardware and how much is the fitting.

A curved rail is a different purchase, not a dearer version

The two lists disagree about where a curved lift starts, at $9,000 on one and $12,000 on the other, and All American Stairlifts states its own curved lifts begin at $9,500. What neither disputes is why the number moves: a curved rail is measured and fabricated for a single flight, so the survey, the fabrication and the fitting are all specific to that house. Anyone comparing two curved quotes is comparing two custom jobs, not two catalog items.

Renting and buying refurbished are both published

A refurbished straight-rail lift is published at $2,000 to $3,000 upfront, which is under the floor of a new one on either list. Renting is published as a setup fee of $500 to $1,000 plus $150 to $300 a month, so a rental passes the purchase price of a new straight lift somewhere in the second year. Batteries are published at $50 to $120 a pair and are the one running cost on the list.

What this page is not

A price record. It does not say whether a lift is the right answer to somebody's stairs, which is an occupational therapist's assessment, and it makes no clinical claim. It does not say what any plan or program will pay toward one. Every figure here is quoted from the seller's own published list, read on 10 September 2026.

Questions people ask about chair lift

Does a published stair lift price include installation?

On both lists read here, yes. All American Stairlifts states its straight figure of $3,200 to $5,500 is installed, and Arrow Lift states its pricing includes professional installation, warranty coverage and any required permits and inspections. A quote that is not stated as installed should be read as the hardware only.

Why is a curved stair lift so much more than a straight one?

The rail. A straight rail is a stock section cut to length; a curved rail is fabricated to one staircase. The published gap on these two lists runs from $9,000 to $15,000 on one and $12,000 to $20,000 on the other, against $3,200 to $7,500 for a straight lift installed.

Is renting stairlifts for seniors cheaper than buying?

Only for a short need. The published rental is a $500 to $1,000 setup fee plus $150 to $300 a month. Against a new straight lift published from $3,200 installed, a rental at the middle of that band overtakes the purchase inside two years.

What does a chair lift for elderly parents cost refurbished?

All American Stairlifts publishes refurbished straight-rail lifts at $2,000 to $3,000 upfront. Neither list read here publishes a refurbished curved price, which is consistent with a curved rail being cut for one staircase.

How much does a standing stairlift cost installed?

The same seller behind the component breakdown above publishes its perch models separately: a straight standing stairlift at $3,500 to $5,500 installed, which it puts at $500 to $1,000 over the equivalent seated model, and a curved one at $11,000 to $16,000. It also publishes a short-term rental at $250 to $400 a month. Read on 30 September 2026. Whether a perch model suits anybody is an occupational therapist's assessment and not a question this page answers.
